… Mistletoe Make & Bake 2010 - day 4

Welcome to day 4 of the Mistletoe Make & Bake blog hop! (the font sizing for my blogger page has been a bit finicky as I'm posting. . . so I apologize if it's a bit wonky today!)

. . . I don't know about you. . . but I'm really feeling the Christmas season spirit growing day by day! I also want to thank you all for your comments. . . so many I'm not able to answer them!. . . but please know that so many of you made me smile with your fun comments. . . (& it's good to know I'd have some company in the corner at the cocktail party!)

Todays topic is our go-to book for Christmas. . .  & for the past few years - ever since I discovered the wonderful designer, Tone Finnanger ,  & her delightful books - this book, Sew Pretty Christmas Homestyle, has been the book that I go to for the decorations that I am slowly (but surely) making for my home. If I had the time - I would make each & every one! . . . & there are so many wonderful gift ideas as well!

The other book that is definitely my go-to book - is my Bible. I read the history & the stories that surround 'the reason for the season' - over & over, from the mention of the events in the Old Testament books - to telling of the nativity from the four disciples in the Gospels. What a wonder. . . & what good news. (!) What is your favorite go-to book at Christmas-time?

I'm thinking that todays cookie recipe is perfect for the Mistletoe Make & Bake. . . as it is full of pucker-power! . . . It's Lemon Bars! These yummy cookie/bars are delicate & just the right amount of sweet & tart. . . (just make sure the lemon juice is fresh. . . not the kind in a bottle. . .)

(click on recipe card for a pdf version you can download.)

Be sure to visit all of the Mistletoe  Make & Bake designers blogs for more fun recipes (you can find them all listed here . . . & especially todays featured designers for their very special holiday projects as well!

Today's featured designers are:

Lissa Alexander of Moda Lissa
Julie Stewart of Quilts 4 Julie
Happy blog hopping!  (. . . & don't forget to practice your pucker!)

Thank you for sharing your lemon bar recipe, my family are not lemon fans, but it is one of my favorites, so I may have to treat myself and make a batch to share with my friends that do enjoy the pucker of lemons.
I usually pull out my collection
of holiday cookbooks and see what
strikes my fancy.

Oh, YEA! Lemon bars are the best!

I don't have one book that I go to for ideas, but too many books with too many ideas! I used to read Dickens' A Christmas Carol every year, and I also have Charlie Brown's Christmas which I love. And, yes, I too read the Bible and the different versions of the Nativity. It's why we celebrate.

Did you hear me sigh when I saw your recipe??? Yummmmmmm! I will have to make these right away - but better run to the store for some lemons! The Gospel of St. Luke, my favorite Christmas book! Jesus is the reason for the season! Thank you so much for sharing. HUGS... and stitches

Lemon bars and the Bible. Now there's a great combination. The story of Jesus coming to earth is what Christmas is all about! The Bible Study group that meets at our house loves it when I make lemon bars.

I count Lemon Bars among my favorites as well, love lemon and have been making them for years!
My favorite book in this upcoming season would have to be one called, Advent of the Savior. It is a commentary on the Infancy Narratives of Jesus. We did a study group with this one a number of years ago and it is still one I cherish.

We will be reading the Nativity story to our grandchildren (who live with us) many times through out the next seven weeks. It never gets old!
Thank you for the Lemon Bar recipe. I meet friends to go to Tea at a local Tea House and this is one of our favorite treats!

Mmmm, lemon bars! I'm drooling and have that back of the mouth 'oh that was sour' feeling lol.
It is so easy to forget the reason for the season. One of my favorite things to do when I was growing up was to help my mom set up the nativity set.
