… wonderful, wonderful wool!

A few days ago, I finished the new embroidery project/design in the morning. . . (can't wait to show you!). . . & by the afternoon - I started making the same design all over again . . .

. . . this time in wool.

. . . on my beloved linen.

I have to tell you. . . I was actually giddy - I was having so much fun! I kept asking myself, why I had let so much time go by since I had done anything in wool.

I love working with wool!

I sat myself down at my design/studio table , piled little stacks of wool all around & played. . . at least that's what it felt like! I had so much fun playing with the colors. . . loving the textures & softness of the wool & well, everything about it!

Once I had my wool colors picked out for each of the blocks, I ironed  the freezer paper templates onto the wool. . .  did a rough of the wool cut around the templates. . . & then I put each into their own little zip-baggie. . .

. . . & then I  moved onto the next block. . . !

. . . Later, I spent the evening with my zip-baggies, my scissors & the Winter Olympics & I cut out all my woolie pieces, asking myself time after time why I had waited so long to work with wool again!

So. Much. Fun. (what can I say. . . I can be veeerry easy to please!)

(by the way. . . I just have to say that it has been so much fun to watch & listen to Canadians sing their national anthem at the Winter Olympics! They have such enthusiasm & sing it with pride & joy! Wonderful to watch! Way to go Canada!)

How weird that we should both be working with our wool and at the same moment tweeted about it! Your project looks fabulous already and mine is going to be yummy and I can see already the project is going to grow much bigger than I first thought.

I agree. I am an expatriate Canadian, American since 2000. Even my husband, a very patriotic American says the Canadian anthem is his next favorite. The lyrics are great! My freedom reign! God Bless America! God bless Canada!

I'm excited to see what you are making. I have not worked with wool. I'm thinking you don't needle turn wool just stitch as is? Very interesting...

I can't wait to see what you do! You have the most beautiful wool ever. EVER! The magic touch is happening at Acorn Quilts!

I too lovew working with wool and recently returned to it after being enticed by a BOM being offered at Primitive Gatherings (Hop To It). I use a one stitch primitive stitch rather than the button hole stitch. I feel the button hole stitch is too bulky
while the primitive stitch makes the wool lay flatter and does not fray as much, especially at the peaks. Do you glue, pin or fuse the wool down? I mostly glue, but am tempted to fuse - only don't want the pieces to be too stiff. I don't have a blog - but love to hear your response.

This is the perfect weather for a wool project! I am excited to see your finished embroidery pattern. It looks beautiful and the boarder is exceptionally gorgeous too! I enjoy doing embroidery in the evenings, as I watch the Olympics also. Paula

Wool is so much fun- gorgeous colors, and no edges to turn under!
I haven't gotten to watch the Olympics very much- they are on way too late for me.
