One of my favorite things to do is once the Christmas tree is decorated with all the lights & ornaments - is to turn off all the other lights & sit in the glow of the Christmas tree. I love to look at the ornaments - especially the ones from years past that have special meaning & bring back so many memories. It's amazing how - even if it's just a little tree - how the tiny lights cast such a light to all around it. . . a good reminder to us all that even the smallest bit of 'light' we bring to the world - can have a big effect!
There is a lot of history (& some myth as well) to this wonderful Christmas tree tradition we have, & you can read more about it here.
My recipe today is one that is great for the holidays - starting at Thanksgiving ! It's a classic, & one that you might already have in your recipe 'box', & it's one of the first cookies I ever made. . . Snickerdoodles!
This Snickerdoodle recipe, though, does not use the baking powder & Baking soda combination that some do - so these cookies do not have the bit of an aftertaste that some Snikerdoodle recipes have. . . The only aftertaste this one leaves is it's cinnamon-y, buttery goodness! (click on recipe card for a pdf version you can download.)

Lovely cookie Brenda, thanks!
Snickerdoodles are so yummy! I love to just sit and enjoy the lights and ornaments on the tree as well. So many wonderful memories.
Snickerdoodles!!! I think they are the first cookie that most kids in my generation made. Thank you.
I'm confused, Bren (normal for me) Your post says no baking powder, but the recipe calls for it. Then I noticed that my recipe calls for baking soda not baking powder, and the light came on. (Maybe I can use that light on my Christmas tree)
these look yummy
I haven't made snickerdoodles for years, but this recipe is different from mine. I'll add this to my holiday cookie list!
Thank you for the Snickerdoodles recipe!
Can you believe it? I've never made Snickerdoodles! I'd better get a move on. Thanks.

Christmas my favorite holiday. Snickerdoodles a favorite cookie of mine.
I love the glow of the tree. We also like to drive around and check out lights, but always have to drive by our own house first to see how it looks.
I love snickerdoodles. As a new college graduate, my apt.mate and I decided to make some. We didnt' have any cream of tartar and didnt' know what it did. So we left it out. we got little hard balls instead of cookies. I think of that every time I make them.
Never heard about snickerdoodles. Sounds very yummy! Thanks so much for sharing.
Snickerdoodles are a great diet cookie because you only have to say the name to enjoy them!
